Please join us in making this significant monument a reality!
The above photos show the preliminary miniature sketch (8" tall) of Grizzly the 399 + cubs monument by artist, Jocelyn Russell. Follow the journey on our Facebook page, which will chronicle the creation of 399's bronze from miniature to monumental size.
This is a photoshop rendering for size comparison at life+1/2, the monument will not be installed in the national parks. This backdrop serves as a placeholder until the installation site is secured.
This poignant artwork will depict Grizzly 399 and her young cubs (2020), capturing their spirit and reminding us of the vital importance of protecting these magnificent creatures and their fragile habitat.
This project aims to:
Honor her memory and inspire future generations to appreciate and protect wildlife.
The monument will be wheelchair accessible and will educate the public about the critical issues facing grizzly bear populations and the importance of conservation efforts.
Motivate individuals to become involved in wildlife conservation efforts and support organizations dedicated to protecting threatened species.
Establish a significant public art installation that will enrich the cultural landscape and serve as a reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation for generations to come.
